In line with the school's agenda, our studio worked within the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Granada, Spain. In collaboration with the Escuela Tecnica Superior de Arquitectura de Granada, we investigated the various typologies of urban living that bear witness to the interwoven expression of Christian and Islamic cultures and their evolution throughout history. The study of the Patio House and Carmen revealed the intrinsic relationship between typology and the topography of the city. This acquired knowledge formed the basis of the students’ response to the complexities of a diverse co-housing brief for 11 family homes, associated communal facilities and specific work spaces of various scales.
